White River Animal Rescue is an independent, nonprofit corporation, supported solely by donations and adoption fees. We do not receive any local, state, or federal funding. We do not receive any monies from the United Way, national animal organizations, or special interest groups.

Caring for our pets in need has its rewards but certain medical conditions such as Parvo(read more below), can be expensive to treat. Many times we have litters of puppies arrive that are all affected with this disease. If you would like to help, please click on the dontation button below. Any amount is always appreciated! Parvo is a common and potentially serious viral disease in dogs. The virus is officially knownMother dog with litter of puppies Parvovirus. The disease caused by this virus is commonly referred to as 'Parvo'.

How is Parvovirus infection diagnosed?
This disease is diagnosed by physical examination, signalment (age, vaccination status, breed, etc.), and a fecal Parvo (ELISA) test. Additional diagnostics include blood work and radiographs.

We have had 5 litters with Parvo, for a total of 37 puppies and we lost 3 of them. Saving a puppy from Parvo is costly (about $1500-$2000 per puppy) but it is possible.
